Occupy Music Education
The Occupy Guitarmy leads this 99 Mile March for social justice, in solidarity with the global occupy movement, and under a variety of issues, causes, and concerns.
One of our special concerns on this march is the state of funding for K-12 public school music education.
If you are a public school music teacher, ensemble leader, instrument teacher, school-age participant, parent, a school administrator, or otherwise involved in the funding and support of music education, we want to hear from you.
If music education gave you your voice, vocation, or otherwise changed your life, we want to hear from you. We want you to join our march, tell your stories, and help us make practice suggestions for what can be done to help our national school system better respect and support music education.
On our march, we will raise funds for Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, which provides instruments to schools in need. We also welcome suggestions for grassroots local and regional organizations that we can partner with in the future.
